Some, suspended work until further notice due to city lockdowns, and some who opted to have their employees work remotely and keep the business going, are suffering a decrease in productivity. Time zone differences, environmental distractions and communication barriers all add as factors to decreased productivity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not every business owner has an emergency plan for \u2018acts of god\u2019 such as this pandemic outbreak. But just because you don\u2019t have a plan, doesn\u2019t mean there\u2019s nothing you can do to keep the business running. In emergencies like this, there\u2019s one thing you must keep constant, and that is communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have a well-established way to communicate with your team, like email services, online video meetings, or instant messaging &#8211; then you\u2019re off to a great start. But there are also other things you can do, to improve getting messages across your departments, not just for employee engagement but also for information dissemination. Here, we\u2019ll be discussing the wonders of having a company podcast, its accessibility, and how it can help your remote team members in these trying times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, let\u2019s talk about podcasts. A podcast is basically a digital audio file made available on the internet. It is typically distributed per episode as part of a series, for a certain program or topic. In other words, it\u2019s like a radio program but is available on streaming applications, ready to be accessed online through your smartphones or computers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Video meetings and emails already work when it comes to sending and receiving information, as well as engaging with remote employees. So, why have a company podcast?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on studies, the audio gets better attention and engagement than text or video as the medium feels more personal or intimate, aside from the other benefit which is&#8211;being able to multi-task while listening. Since this is a company podcast, it must be accessible to every team member, including those team members who may have disabilities, especially for those with hearing impairment, given that a podcast is basically audio. You may be wondering how someone who is hard of hearing may be able to access these. This is where the other parts of the podcast come in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For people who are hard of hearing, a transcribed file of the whole episode must be readily available, so that they may be able to read what is being discussed.
