World Introvert Day Jan 2nd 2024 👆🏼

Some people know exactly what they want their dream job to be when growing up, while others don’t discover this until they are in their 20’s, 30’s or even older. Whatever age you are, it’s never too late for a career change. We have got some top tips for you below on finding your dream job.

Identify Your Strengths and Weaknesses

If you are struggling to find what your dream job is, then turn your focus to your strengths and weaknesses. Identifying these will help you see if you are a good fit for a particular job. If you are struggling to know what your strengths and weaknesses are, ask a friend, family member or co-worker their opinion. A few online tests can help you decide what your career path should be based on your personality.

Take Classes

If you know what your dream job is but don’t have the qualifications for it, don’t be scared to go back to college or take an online course. If you don’t need/want qualifications but need more knowledge, then pick up a book, attend a workshop or watch some YouTube tutorials. By exploring your options through classes or videos, you might discover you have a strong interest in something you never even considered before. If you decide you don’t want to pursue that career path after the classes, don’t see that as a defeat, see it as a win that you have learned something new and that you could implement in day to day life or in your current job.

Do What Makes You Happy

Ultimately you want to be happy in your job, so why not explore turning your hobby into a career. Whether you are crafty or like to keep up with the current stock market, if it’s something you enjoy, why not try and make some money from it, whether it’s starting your own business or finding a job within the industry.

Look For A Job

So you have decided what you want your dream job to be, that’s great. It is now time to start looking for a job. There are a variety of job search sites out there, so make sure you are looking at them all, as not everyone advertises on them all. If you are feeling overwhelmed by them all, then why use recruiting agency, they will help you search for the right job and match you with an employer looking for your expertise.

Be proactive when looking for a job by emailing companies directly, even if they are not advertising or even walking into their place of work with your CV (following safety guidelines, of course). This shows initiative and that you are really interested in their company. If you are lucky enough to get an interview, be confident and knowledgeable about their company and job role.
