When you decide that you want to be a lawyer, you still have more work to do. Because there’s a wide range of areas to consider specializing, and you’ll want to make sure that you choose the area that’s right for you. Let’s take a look.
To begin with, there’s business law. Maybe you want to open a commercial law practice or become a partner in an established firm? When this is the case, it’s contract law that you’re going to want to study and focus on to begin with. This can mean that you are working with some of the world’s biggest companies.
Next up, we have another big area – criminal law. And this one can seem big and glamorous, but it’s also a lot of work and can be something that is competitive to move into. Here, you have two different areas to consider. The first is become a criminal defence attorney where you will represent the defendants in court. Or, you could work in the DA’s office as a prosecutor.
Or maybe you like the idea of trying to make a difference in the world? When that’s the case, you may find that you want to work in the field of health law. Here, you could help to set health policies, which may make such a big difference to the country overall.
