Looking for the perfect career for yourself is one of the most difficult and biggest decisions of your life. Deciding what you want to do for the rest of your life can be hard because you will be doing it for most of the week. A career isn’t just a 9-5 job which you take to earn some extra cash: it is a way to do something you love and something you are truly good at every single day.
Some people want to reach for the stars with a career and change the world. There are so many ways that you can make a positive impact on the world with your job and it can be in many different ways. You don’t have to be a doctor or a lawyer to make big change in the lives of yourself and others, you will be able to find a great career which suits your skills and helps others in your own way.
Finding your passion
When you start making a move to look for a new career, the first thing that you want to do is start asking yourself what you love to do. There is absolutely no reason why you should spend your life doing something which you don’t enjoy. It will not be rewarding for you, and you will likely not throw yourself into it and work as hard as you could do. The key to finding a great career and making a difference is finding your passion. Passion is what gets us out of bed in the morning, it is what makes us go the extra mile and do things we never thought we would. If you have passion for a particular subject you will want to excel at it and be the best you can be. It can be hard to find exactly what you are passionate about but just think about your favourite hobbies and the things you love. You might love nothing more than listening to people and giving advice: and for this you could be a great counsellor for people who need it. You may love to be out in nature all day every day: and this could make you an ideal park ranger. Think of what you enjoy doing and this will guide you to find a place where you can do this every single day.
Do your research
Did you know that when you are studying as a doctor you will need to get your own scrubs (read more), equipment and do a lot of extra reading just to stay in top of new discoveries? It is incredibly important when you are looking into a different career that you do your research on the nitty gritty parts and be prepared for all of the obstacles which may come crashing your way. If you don’t have any experience in your chosen field it will be worth looking for someone within the industry to talk to and get some advice. It is always better to get some advice from people who already work in your chosen role because they will be able to give you a full insight into what it is really like. You may be surprised to find a few new aspects of a certain job role which you would never have known without asking someone. It will also be worth you doing some extra research online about your chosen job and keeping up to date with industry news. The benefit of this is that it will allow you to fully immerse yourself in the subject and feel as if you are totally ready to get into this career after doing the relevant education.
Let anger fuel your

If you want to do something which can make a difference in the world then let all of this anger and stress guide you. Think about the fact that you are having to wake up early every morning to get to a job your hate, and then you don’t get all of the recognition you deserve anyway. Think for a moment about what would make you a happier person and let all of the emotion you have for your other job guide you to a better way if life and a job which you can actually grow and develop doing. You owe it to yourself to move on from this mini hell and do something which you can fully enjoy and be great at throughout your life.
Think long term
Before you dive right in and quit your job to start a new one, make sure that you think about the long term and be sensible when you come to looking at jobs. Your passion may guide you to simply pack it all in and go for something different, but the practical part of your brain should be telling you to hang fire until you know exactly what is going to happen. While you look for new jobs and study for a different career, stay in your current job for stability and give yourself enough time to mull things over and make sure that you are making the best decision for yourself. It is incredibly important because you need to provide for yourself and the people you love.
Don’t feel boxed in
The issue which a lot of people seem to have when they first start looking for a career is seeing things very boxed in. The way you work throughout your life doesn’t have to be dictated by social norms: you don’t have to become a doctor, a lawyer or a midwife. You can be anything you want to be even if the job role seems to be out of the ordinary. There has to be someone in the world who does any job, and this is the thing you need to remember when you are looking. Out there in the world there is someone responsible for cuddling kittens, someone who tests chocolate and even someone who travels the world to write reviews. You can literally be anything you want to be, so instead of looking at your options on a limited scale, think big and think of what it is that touches truly want to do for the rest of your life. There are a world of options out there if you let yourself see them.

Once you have decided exactly what it is that you want to spend your life doing, the trick is to find that job role in a place where you can go. If you want to be able to find the perfect job you need to be vocal about it and don’t feel embarrassed if the job is somewhat unconventional. It really doesn’t matter if the job you choose isn’t the same as everyone else’s: because it is your life and your choice, and if anything you should be very proud of it. Don’t be afraid to shout it from the rooftops and put yourself out there for any opportunities which ,way come your way. You might even find an alternative in the same industry which suits you even better than this one!
Dress to impress
When you do finally get the interview you’ve been waiting for, you must make sure that you wear clothing which is good enough to make that first impression you need. It doesn’t even matter if the interview is for a sporting coach or something outdoors: people will judge you on what you wear and how you present yourself to them. Think about wearing something classic, plain and smart. The best choice for both men and women is a white shirt, bottoms and clean shoes. It is clean, simple and looks incredibly smart.
Use your social life

If you want to make a difference in your life and have a job you love you can use your hobbies and social life to do this. There are so many different ways that you can make money while doing things you enjoy. For example you could become a food critic and have an excuse to visit lots of restaurants with your family and your friends. You could be a show reviewer and have to attend different concerts and theatre performances to give your opinion. Or you could even be hired by a website to go and travel to different parts of the world and make an account if the best places to visit and eat at. If you have something you love to do there will always be a job out there for you.
Be confident in yourself
If you want to change the way you live your life and start something completely new, you have to be confident in yourself and believe in your ability to succeed. It is the single most important thing for you to remember and will make a massive difference to the way you approach the search as well as interviews.
