There are a lot of success stories posted online from people who were once struggling to pay their rent, and are now working for six figures. This is great, especially as the stories might be true. It’s very brave to keep on going in the face of adversity.
But what is success?
I think the meaning of success gets lost in this information age where we are bombarded with details about other people. We see what everyone else is doing and give ourselves impossible goals to match that. Does it really matter how much we earn or how many people are following us online? Or is it more important that we do what makes us happy? That might be your own business, it might be working for someone else, it might be comfort, it might be travel, it might even be awarding yourself some time alone each day. It’s individual to each person and is constantly changing as we grow older.
Don’t worry about ‘keeping up with the Jones’s’, worry about doing the thing that enriches your life.
