Being an introvert is characterised by quite a few different traits: you’re passionate, you’re driven, you’re focused, and you’re never easily distracted. And in the business world, these traits are invaluable for succeeding! However, sometimes we can feel these parts of our personality taking a turn, and we’re left with changes to how we work.
If you’ve always labeled yourself as an introvert, and you know your own strengths and weaknesses enough to use them accordingly to get ahead in your career, having such a huge change to your business model can take a lot out of you. But sometimes, we do start to feel a little more extroverted in what we do, and we should use that to our advantage as well! So if you’re feeling more confident, more energetic, in your business movements recently, it’s time to put it to good use.
As an introvert, there’s a lot you don’t want to have to take on when it comes to the work world, and sometimes you think taking on some oilfield pumper jobs would be best for keeping you away from human interaction. However, when that extroverted part of you becomes stronger, you’re going to hate the lack of interaction that comes with being in a traditional work environment, as part of a team. And when you’re a mixture of the two, you’re versatile.
When you’re versatile, there’s so much more you can take on when it comes to responsibility at work. Tasks you never thought you’d be able to accomplish suddenly present no challenge to you, and you can do a lot to impress to make sure your boss properly values you at the end of the day. So use times like these to take your career higher and higher, to make the connections you’ve always known you needed on your side, and even apply for a new job or position in your company if you’re not running the place yourself.
You Know What You’re Capable Of
So by the end of the working day, when you’ve been taking calls and writing the most important emails since 9am that morning, there’s a good chance you’re going to need to recharge. But even then, you know that the next day you’re going to be able to go back to the same tasks with the same enthusiasm, because working brings out the best in your energy levels.
When you’re in such a focused and driven environment, you know yourself well enough to realise you’re going to be able to do anything to make sure you secure a connection or a deal. There’s a reason you can do your job so well after all, so never underestimate how well you can excel at a certain task you’ve been set.
You’re an introvert and an extrovert at the end of the day, and bringing these two personality types together is what can make you so effective in the workplace. Your career should never suffer because of who you are.
